How do Australia people living on a sheep station communicate with the outside world?

Many Australian sheep stations are not as isolated as others, and are not generally as remote as cattle stations. Usually they can pick up their mail at intervals from their nearest town or post office. There may be a mail box center in some localities that do not have a post office, or there may be Roadside Mail Deliveries where the mail is dropped off at a mail box at the start of the property. Some areas have weekly or twice weekly mail deliveries operated by private contractors. Very remote communities may have the mail dropped by air or rail if they are near a train line, and the Royal Flying Doctor Service sometimes also plays a mail delivery role.

Many sheepstations these days have mobile phone coverage, computers and the internet. Those that don't may have satellite phones or communicate via radio. In the early part of the 20th century, radio was the only form of communication.
