Answer 1

Culture and religion influence one's beliefs but it is the person who ultimately decides whether they will be a loving supporting person to their spouse or the opposite. Turkey has a male-dominated culture and 99% of the population are Muslim. Mohammed declared that most of those in hell are women and a 2013 poll by the University of Kirikkale of 3500 Turkish men revealed that 28% thought violence against spouses to be indispensable in disciplining them while 34% were more moderate and thought violence against their wives was only "necessary" "occasionally."

Well, as a Turkish woman, I can say Turkish men are neither good boyfriends or husbands. Generally speaking, they beat their wives if those poor women do not 'obey' their stone age rules and when women want to get divorce, mostly; they brutally kill them. In Turkey, 5 women are killed per day! not per year or month.

Even though the Turkish government considers itself as secular and modern, they do not seem to care about those honor killings or murders. Also they claim that they rely on constitutional principles, but as a woman I can say, their hands are covered with the blood of our lonely women.

Did you know that there is a Turkish expression of which those bears consider as romantic : "either you are mine or you will belong to the grave."

Unfortunately, i am ashamed of living with those patriarchal, cave men of this country as a 25 year old independent woman.

Of course, there may be exceptions. a few of our men are respectful to their wives or their girlfriends. I wish you the best finding them.
