How do you get to Coney Island from Queens?

The D train makes several stops along 4th Avenue in Brooklyn. The D train goes to Coney Island. It's the last stop on the Downtown D train, actually (the station is called the Stillwell Avenue-Coney Island Station).

You can get on the D train at the following stops (in order from Uptown ---> Downtown):

Atlantic Avenue-Pacific Street/4th Avenue

Union Street/4th Avenue

4th Avenue/9th Street

Prospect Avenue/4th Avenue

25th Street/4th Avenue

36th Street/4th Avenue

The D and F trains (of the B-D-F-M, the orange line) and the N and Q trains (of the N-R-Q-W, the yellow line) run through Queens and stop at Coney Island.

If you're starting out on the E train (of the A-C-E, the blue line), then take the E to 74th Street-Broadway in Queens or West 4th Street in Manhattan, and transfer there to the Downtown D or F. You can also transfer from the E to the D at 7th Avenue-53rd Street in Manhattan.

If you're starting out on the M train, then take the M to 47th-50th Street-Rockefeller Center, and transfer there to the Downtown D or F.

If you're starting out on the J-Z (the brown line), then either take the J or Z to Essex Street in Manhattan, and transfer there to the Downtown F at Delancey Street (it's two connected stations, the Delancey-Essex or Essex-Delancey Street Station), or take the J-Z to Canal Street and transfer there to the Downtown N or Q.

If you're starting out on the 7 train (the purple line), you can transfer to the Downtown D or F at 42nd Street-Bryant Park.

Lately (as of May/June 2011) the 7 sometimes does not run between Queensboro Plaza and Times Square, due to construction. You can check the current service status at the Related Link below. If you can't take the 7 to 42nd Street-Bryant Park, then you can take it to 74th Street-Broadway, and transfer there to the F.
