Parakeets arent the kind of animals to pick up, you will have to train your 'keet to trust you. Try putting your index finger on her belly-gently, then try telling her to "step up"keep trying and be patient! And don't grab at her that is a parakeets worst nightmere!=Hope this helped!=

well actually mine are hand trained so they hop up on my finger but if they are not trained then you can hold them by the neck but making sure you hold it gently or else the bird will bite don't hold it by the chest it hurts them.

I just corner it in its cage and then grab it. It might squirm and try to bite you though, usually they feel more comfortable if you hold them with their belly-up. If your still not sure, ask a bird expert or bird lover in your neighborhood, or ask your local pet store that sells parakeets to show you. They should help.

hold out a couple of fingers (curve them a little) hold your fingers out towards the legs put a little pressure on their legs and voila.
