To replace the starter on a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo V6, first disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical shorts. Remove the starter motor by unbolting it from the engine; this typically involves removing the starter mounting bolts and disconnecting the electrical connectors. Once the old starter is out, position the new starter in place, reattach the bolts, and reconnect the electrical connections. Finally, reconnect the battery terminal and test the new starter to ensure it functions properly.

I have the same problem with my 98 Isuzu Rodeo. If you haven't already, replace the Idle air control valve. I have the same problem with my 98 Isuzu Rodeo. If you haven't already, replace the Idle air control valve.
From what I understand, you have to diconnect the exhaust system on the side that the starter motor is located on. To reassemble you have to replace the exhaust gasket with a new one. If you are replacing the starter, there is a GM starter that is a direct replacement for the Isuzu starter and costs quite a bit less.
