The Piedmont starts at the Fall Line and goes north. That occurs at Augusta, Macon, and Columbus. At one time that area included numerous factories. It now has fewer factories. But it still has a number. Farming is still important. It now has a large transportation center. Atlanta has a large financial center. Still, with the Atlanta area built up along the interstate from Newnan to Gainesville in one direction and equally in other directions, there must be a lot more.
