In 1412 Mildenhall received its' charter for having a Market at the Market Cross, it is home to the magnificent St. Mary's Church; one of the finest churches in Suffolk, in its' Parish was discovered one of the UK's largest Roman hordes of silverware, it was the starting point of the England to Australia air race, it is currently home to the 100th Air Refuelling Squadron at RAF Mildenhall.
