Therefore, you can find very dangerous areas such as Juarez with a murder rate of 229 people per 100,000 inhabitants, putting it as the most dangerous city in the world. On the other hand, you can find states such as Baja California Sur, Yucatan and Hidalgo, with murder rates lower than 5 per 100,000 inhabitants.

The state of Yucatan, home of the Chichen Itza ruins, has a murder rate of 1.72 per 100,000 inhabitants. This makes it much safer than say, Canada (2.1 murders per 100,000).
