Almost all mail takes the same time as long as it goes within the continental United States. A general rule is it takes about 3 days. Here is how it's divided.

Day 1: The mailman takes the letter from the mailbox and brings it into the post office, where it is sorted onto various mail trucks/planes

Day 2: The mail is transported to wherever it needs to go (up to the closest post office to it's final destination).

Day 3: The mail is delivered to the final destination.
