I have ben there and it is over 3 miles
If you're referring to commercial airports, then I can't help you. The longest runway in the U.S. that I'm aware of is at Edwards Air Force Base. The Space Shuttle can land there in case of an emergency, so that runway better be really long.
It depends. Some airports have VOR navigtion aids on the field, which regularly serve as beginning and end points for such measurements. Another convenient reference point is the center of the runway. With the use of GPS, it is possible to dial in the exact location of the numbers on the runway (!).
Runway 8R/26L is 12,000 ft long. BIG runway.
Generally runways at smaller airports are 1-2 miles depending on the size of aircraft that are going to be landing there. Your gib airports like O'Haire and LAX those runways are usually 2-3 miles long in case the plane needs extra stopping room for a mechanical issue.
what is the distance from Glasgow to blackpool
They take lots of runway to take-off and land, so airports have to be bigger. Also many people may not want to go to the limited amount of airports they use.
The Airbus A380 typically requires a runway length of approximately 3,000 meters (about 9,800 feet) for landing under standard conditions. However, the exact requirement can vary based on factors such as weight, weather conditions, and altitude of the airport. It's essential for airports to have sufficient runway length to accommodate this large aircraft safely.
It takes about 6 hours to drive from Aberdeen to Blackpool.
because you walk up and down the runway doing all sorts of pose. i am improving this answer. the answer above mine is stupid. it clearly says the category is in airports. okay, so if a runway is active it is used for takeoffs and landings. (not much of an answer though)
About 1h50.
