While there are no beaches in the municipality of Copenhagen itself, there are near by beaches both to the north (Charlottenlund on the Eastern coast facing Sweden; 9 km from Town hall square), to the South (Amager Strand Park on the Island of Amager also facing east; 6 km away) and to the South west (approx. 15 km; several destinations facing south). These are all within the Capital area and reachable by public transport. If you have the time you can also drive 52 km to Hornbæk on the the Northern coast (at the Kattegat sea) - here you'll get a real sea-side experience.
Do check the weather before you leave home ;-)
