How many islands are there in the Caribbean Islands?

Altogether there are over 7,000 odd islands that make up the Caribbean, but bearing in mind that the vast majority of these are reefs and cays the number soon falls.

There are 115 main islands.

There are many thousands of islands in the Caribbean, and still more northeast of Cuba in the Bahamas. The total count of inhanited or uninhabited islands is between 7000 and 10,000 including the very smallest ones.

But there are 41 island governments, either independent countries or territories of other countries (e.g. Puerto Rico-the US, and Bonaire-the Netherlands).
