"Hi I am James C. ltt. and Im gonna let you know Surenos don't exactly run California They Controll all Southern California and have many members in Northern California. Nortenos are not as active than Surenos.Nortenos will be only active in the metro part of Santa Rosa Because of the N.F gangs.VSRN is the most biggest and active Norteno gang in Northern California all other gangs will try to click up with VSRN because they have done most of the crimes of Nortenos.VSRN stands for VarrioSantaRosaNortenos." Surenos don't have control over the entire California state. Like James said, they originate from Southern California cities such as Los Angeles and San Diego. In respect to the Norteno/Sureno war, Nortenos have virtually no control over turf in Southern California. Surenos within LA and San Diego war with other gangs from those cities. Due to the increasing Hispanic population in LA, Sureno membership is constantly increasing, and Mexican or other Latino gangs have started to occupy various traditionally Black neighborhoods such as Compton, West LA, Northeast LA, and Long Beach. Some Mexican gangs in these areas exorcise "ethnic cleansing" of black gangs as ordered by the Mexican Mafia. The "ES Longos" of Long Beach are known to fight with Blood, Crip, and Asian gangs in the area, while "The Avenues" have targeted Blacks gangsters and citizens in the Northeastern area. Nortenos originate from cities north of Bakersfield and occupy all major Norcal cities. Cities like Stockton, Salinas, Sacramento, and Oakland are Norteno strongholds, though small Sureno gangs have succeeded in occupying territory in those cities. Northern California is still very much Norteno territory, shared of course with Black and Asian gangs.
