Um, I don't hate them at all. Administrating and operating public transportation in a city the size of New York is a nightmarish, behemoth job. When delays happen, it's easy to blame them on lazy, incompetent MTA employees, but that is usually not the reality of the situation.

Sometimes people get sick on the bus or the subway, or have accidents, and medical personnel have to be called. Sometimes equipment malfunctions. Sometimes heavy rains flood the tracks. Sometimes repairs have to be done. Maintenance work on subway tracks and tunnels cannot be done while the subway is closed, because the subway never closes. Thus, when repairs have to be done, certain subway lines must be shut down.

Yes, delays happen. But to say that the MTA is incompetent is just patently false. You may have to wait awhile for a bus or a subway sometimes, or your trip might be re-routed and detoured due to track work, but the fact remains, the bus or the subway will come eventually, and it will get you where you need to go.
