Unless there's something that makes your particular quarter different from the billions of other state quarters out there, it's only worth 25¢ if you found it in change.

A nice uncirculated one might sell for 40 cents.

I assume you are talking about the packaged "Original New York Penny" circa 1790; if so it is worth about $15-$25 depending on the condition. It isn't a fake coin, there are just a ton of them. See the other person who asked the same question for a more complete answer.
