Overheating the engine - usually by running low on water or a waterleak causing same thing.
bad head or head gasket
Let's see...cracked head, cracked head gasket, cracked intake gasket, bad cylinder liner or cracked block, air compressor head gasket...if this was a Cat 3116 I'd also look at the oil cooler or an injector sleeve, but it's not so that's probably not it.
Blown head gasket
Oil can leak out of the head on a 60 Series Detroit engine due to several potential issues, such as worn or damaged gaskets, particularly the valve cover gasket or cylinder head gasket. Additionally, cracks in the cylinder head or improper torque on the head bolts can lead to oil seepage. Over time, wear and tear on seals and fittings can also contribute to leaks. Regular maintenance and inspections can help identify and address these issues before they lead to significant oil leaks.
A compression test will tell you if a head gasket is blown on ANY engine. Also, white smoke tells you that your burning anti-freeze, which means a head gasket is blown.
