63A people were killed in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. 57 of the fatalities were considered to be directly caused by the earthquake and 6 indirectly.
The majority of the deaths (40) were caused by the collapse of an elevated section of free-way.

It was harmful because many people died/injured like seriously and many houses burnt down......and there was a statue of a man that had his head buried in the ground.....lol well anyways thats kinda why it was harmful! O.o

The S F earthquake of 1906 totally devastated parts of the city. There have been several since, but the next big one is still awaited.
the earthquake began and sent wind and debris everywhere, when the wind and debris was mixed with wood and winds hard enough to create fire. the fire was large and it mixed with the earthquake, created one of the biggest natural disasters in our countries history. that's all :) @rose@
It depends how many times an earthquake occurs and how much damage happens and how strong it is.....
