How much should you feed a Holland Lop daily?

Pet rabbits eat mostly hay, and some pellets and fresh leafy greens daily.

Hay should be unlimited so the rabbit can graze whenever he wants to. Rabbits should eat lots of hay, because it helps protect them against many common illnesses (like malloclusion, molar spurs, GI stasis, cecal dysbiosis, and depression). Bunnies should eat about their own size in hay daily; if yours isn't, you should find ways to encourage him to eat more!

Pellets - even high-quality ones - are high in fat and protein. Some people give their rabbits unlimited pellets, but this can leads to obesity and other health problems if your rabbit overeats. Experts recommend limiting your bunny's pellets according to his or her weight. For example, a normal, healthy adult rabbit weighing 3-4 pounds (typical of a Holland Lop) might eat 3 tablespoons of pellets per day.

Dark leafy greens are also good for bunnies on a daily basis. Make sure you know which ones are safe and which one's aren't! Offer your bunny a wide variety, because it's boring to eat the same thing every day! (Also, too much of the same kind of plant can lead to illness.) For example, a normal, healthy adult rabbit weighing 3-4 pounds might eat 1-2 packed cups of greens per day.

Treats are optional, and too much can quickly lead to severe illness. Limit treats to fresh fruits and non-leafy vegetables, because at least they have some health benefits (like vitamins and antioxidants). One or two bites a day is enough. Avoid grains, seeds, nuts, legumes, and any "human" foods (like bread, or cereal).

• Hay -- timothy or other grass hays for adults, and alfalfa for babies and nursing moms.
• You can feed them rabbit pellets which you can buy at a pet store, or a store like Tractor Supply, Walmart, or a feed store.
• You can also give them treats/vegetables/fruits occasionally.
• Water.

We raise holland lops. We feed them Pen Pals food from our local feed store. And if you feed them anything really fast without gradually getting them used to eat (carrots, bunny foods, vegetables, etc.) they'll get dirreaha and die in a matter of a couple of days.
