During the gold rush, people mined for themselves: they were not employed by companies. They earned only what they were able to assay in gold from their own findings. It was not until the alluvial gold began to run out, leading to the end of the goldrush, that companies stepped in and started employing people to mine, using large equipment.
There are various types of mines in action today besides gold mines, such as coal mines, copper mines, iron ore mines, and diamond mines. Each type of mine is dedicated to extracting different minerals or resources from the earth.
Pataudi has two gold mines : Sharmila and Kareena .
Since 2007, China has led the world in gold production, overtaking South Africa, whose mines have produced as much as 50% of all gold ever mined in the world.
