For the founding of Jamestown, over 20 years in England, Engalnd tried to plant another colony. So, they sailed of to America, found a colony and named it after King James I. For the founding of Plymouth, pilgrims didn't want to join the church in England and the government took action against them. They fined the pilgrims, jailed them, and some were even executed.
