Link can remove the boulder by using a Powder Keg. In order to obtain the Powder Keg, Link must use one to break the boulder that blocks the way to the Goron Race. After doing that, you should receive the ability to carry Powder Kegs. They can be purchased from a Goron in the Bomb Shop in West Clock Town. Use the Powder Kegs to blow the boulder in front of the Ranch to get inside.
