The neighborhood is in the process of gentrification. For the most part it is safe and continuously progressing but there are still patches near housing projects and such that are not safe for night time travel. A few years ago this was a very unsafe neighboorhood but has changed alot since then.
Some neighborhoods are relatively safe, such as Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights and Williamsburg. Some neighborhoods are notoriously unsafe, such as Bedford-Stuyvesant, East New York and Brownsville.
In Brooklyn: Parts of East New York, parts of Bushwick, all of Brownsville, parts of Bedford Stuyvesant, parts of Crown Heights, parts of Flatbush, and most of Coney Island.
Depends on the neighborhood. If you are someplace where it is unsafe and illegal to be shooting, call the police. Repeat as needed.
