Yes, Dubai could be a good choice depending on your idea of a vacation. But before that, I would like to inform that it is not a backpacker's heaven. The temperature is kind of on the wrong end of the thermometer. The attractions are far and widespread.

Dubai is a symbol of opulence. Maniac designers and Engineers have transformed the skyline of Dubai over the past few decades. If amazing skylines are your thing, I'm sure Dubai will not disappoint.

Prior to that, you could take an entire city tour of Dubai in a AC bus or an evening open roof bus. It has a tour guide who explains about the various scenes and sites with the occasional stop thrown in here and there. Following which you can actually decide which places you would want to come back to again.

The malls are pretty amazing. Dubai mall, Mall of the Emirates, Ibn Battuta Mall all are just a few to name. Make use of the local metro while you are there. Tickets are expensive, but much cheaper compared to other Taxi's.

Spend an entire evening on the sands and have a desert barbeque dinner. Highly recommended.

Visit the Burj Khalifa and take in the grandeur of the Fountain show either from the bottom or from the top of the tower. You have specific Sunrise and Sunset packages for the observatory deck visit. Check and book on their website well in advance.

Also visit places like the Gold Sou to get a feel of the real world Dubai. There is a stark contrast between the new and old parts of Dubai. Also visit the Global Village, a novel idea about cultural unity far from the center of the city. If possible, try visiting the other Emirates as well.Dhabi could be a good choice too.
