NO the are made of dog food. I bought some and took them to my lab and did some tests. They weren't chicken, neither were they something we would normally eat! THEY WERE DOG FOOD FOR GOOD SAKES!

Yes. It's probably not the healthiest thing because they're often breaded and fried, but otherwise fish is an acceptable food item for dogs.
You can use the same technique as if they where a puppy, but use more tempting treats like chicken. On my adult lab, i just buy chicken (cooked) and break it off as I train. Hope this answers your question. It definantly saved my life.
