Yes and No.
Somaliland is a de facto independent country, but not a de jure independent country. What this means is that the government of Somaliland actually controls territory and effectively administrates it. This is called de factogovernance. (This is just like the the United States, Russia, and most other major countries.) However, in addition to effectively controlling territory, a nation needs to be accepted by other nations by way of diplomatic relations and embassies. This is called de jure governance. As no country has embassies in Somaliland or has Somalilander embassies in their country, Somaliland is not a de jure country.
The country code and area code of Somaliland, Somaliland is 252, 2.
No. Somaliland is at peace, it is a lovely country that is loved by everyone who goes to see it and people who are from there. :)
'Somali' is an adjective meaning 'belonging to Somalia'. The country of Somalia is a recognised country, but it is in bad shape financially and politically. Somaliland is a breakaway region of Somalia which calls itself a country, though it is not internationally recognised. It is doing rather better then the rest of Somalia!
Somalia did not fight for their independance at all- before Somalia became a country it was two different protectorates- A British protectorate called British Somaliland (established in 1884-87), and an Italin Protectorate called Italian Somaliland ( established in 1889-90). Italy promised after World War II that in 10 years they would make Italin somaliland an independent republic. Somalia became a fully independent republic in 1960. When Italin Somaliland was gaining independance it merged with British somaliland making them both independent republics under the new name of Somalia.
Somaliland is small new country in horn Africa which gained its independency In great Britain 1960. However, in same year, it United with South Somalia where later known as Republic of Somalia. Since 1991 after central government collapsed, the people in Somaliland decided to bring back their country from hands of Southernism regime who at that time their hands were stocked the blood of Somaliland people. The greater news about Somaliland is that its people manage to build their country that never comes under mercy's leaders. In Africa, the only country that operates under a confederation government is the Republic of Somaliland, which declared independence from Somalia in 1991. Somaliland functions with its own government and institutions, but it is not internationally recognized as an independent state. The confederation-like structure is characterized by a degree of autonomy and self-governance while still maintaining certain ties to Somalia. However, it's important to note that the term "confederation" is not commonly used to describe Somaliland's governance, as it is more often referred to as a de facto state.

is an unrecognised self-declared sovereign state that is internationally recognised as an autonomous region of Somalia.[2][4] The government of Somaliland regards the territory as the successor state to the British Somaliland protectorate, which was independent for a few days in 1960 as the State of Somaliland,[5][6] before uniting with the Trust Territory of Somalia (the former Italian Somaliland) later the same week to form the Somali Republic.
Somaliland's motto is 'Shahada'.
