Toronto is a large urban city. The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) has a population of approximately 5.5 million. Toronto is entirely urban, as is most of the surrounding area. Although there is a tourist attraction in downtown Toronto called the Riverdale Farm, it could hardly be described as a rural area.

Toronto is very much an urban area, much like any other big city in the world. A rural area accounts more for semi-populated areas, such as residential areas near farms, or even just farm plots.

I assure you Toronto is nowhere near a farm, nor is it a collection of farm plots. It is very much surrounded by offices and shopping malls, as well as universities.

Toronto is an urban area because it is a city. If it were a small town in the country, it would be a rural area.
