Yes, Yes is it

Cheshire is a county in the North West of England and the County Town in Chester. It is bordered by Greater Manchester, but not in it

~

I know this sounds strange but at least one place (Stockport) is within the historic boundaries of the county of Cheshire, even the postal address is still Cheshire, but it is now part of Greater Manchester. Even stranger, within living memory, although Stockport was supposedly in Cheshire the parts of Stockport on the northerly side of the River Mersey were officially and historically in Lancashire. (the same as Manchester was)

Which county is Stockport in?

Most people now say Stockport is in Greater Manchester, along with Rochdale, Oldham etc but it was originally in Cheshire before Greater Manchester Borough was formed. I would stick to the original roots and say Cheshire :) Hope this helped! Stockport lies within the historic county boundaries of Cheshire but not in Cheshire's administrative boundaries. Since 1974 Stockport has been a Metropolitan Borough of the Metropolitan County of Greater Manchester. Greater Manchester was created to enhance and provide a harmonious local government of the built up areas around South East Lancashire and North East Cheshire. The creation of Greater Manchester did not intent to alter the historic county boundaries of Cheshire or persuade local people to alter their loyalties to Cheshire- this was confirmed by the government at the time. Stockport therefore lies within the ancient County Boundaries of Cheshire that were created in the 12th Century. For modern administrative reasons it forms part of Greater Manchester (note it is not part of the city of Manchester). Many people either refer to Stockport as in Cheshire, Greater Manchester or Both- all of which are correct. Cheshire is also the postal county of Stockport.

Is chesire in Manchester?

Do you mean Cheshire? Cheshire (also known, archaically, as the County of Chester) is a county in North West England. The county town, and the location of the county council, is the city of Chester, although Cheshire's largest town in terms of area and population is Warrington. Other major towns include Congleton, Crewe, Ellesmere Port, Widnes, Runcorn, Macclesfield, Nantwich, Northwich, and Wilmslow.[3] The county is bordered by Merseyside and Greater Manchester to the north, Derbyshire to the east, Staffordshire and Shropshire to the south, Flintshire and Wrexham in Wales to the west. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheshire
