Jackson's invasion of Florida in 1818 raised problems with Spain and Great Britain. The incursion highlighted tensions between the United States and Spain over territorial control, leading to concerns about U.S. expansionism and Spanish sovereignty. Additionally, Great Britain, which had interests in the region, was wary of the implications for its own colonial possessions and influence in the Americas. These tensions ultimately contributed to the negotiations that led to the Adams-Onís Treaty in 1819, where Spain ceded Florida to the United States.
Subsequent to Jackson's invasion of Florida, John Quincy Adams, the Secretary of State, pressured Spain to cede the area to the United States. Andrew Jackson would go on to serve as the nation's 7th president.
