In 1763, the Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian war, and Spain gave Florida to Britain. In 1783, Florida was returned to Spain. In 1821, the United States acquired Florida via treaty.
There was no war in Florida!
Black Heritage Trails commemorate the struggles of African-Americans for equality by providing directions to historical locations where important events took place, and furnishing information about these events. The Black Heritage Trail in Columbus, Georgia has thirty historical sites. These include churches, schools, cemeteries, and other points of interest. The Black Heritage Trail in Boston, Massachusetts includes more than fifteen pre-Civil War sites, including the oldest remaining black church in the United States. There is also the Florida Black Heritage Trail publication, featuring 64 pages describing historic African-American sites throughout the state. It is available from the Florida Department of State and the Florida African American Heritage Preservation Network.
Three major international issues during Jefferson's presidency were the Louisiana purchase, the Barbary War, and his attempt at acquiring Florida and Haiti. The Louisiana Purchase was successful, the Barbary War with the northern Barbary states of Africa was also successful, but Jefferson had trouble with the acquisition of Florida.
The Seminole war was fought in Florida. :-)
