All the records from the Yazoo Land Fraud were burned in public in 1796 in front of the Georgia State Capitol in Louisville, Georgia. This act was part of a controversial decision to erase the fraudulent land transactions that had taken place, as the state sought to distance itself from the scandal and restore public trust. The Yazoo Land Fraud involved the sale of vast tracts of land to private companies under corrupt circumstances, leading to widespread outrage and eventual legal repercussions.
In Georgia, the governor has 40 days to take action on a bill after it is presented. The governor can sign the bill into law, veto it, or allow it to become law without a signature. If the governor does not act within the 40-day period, the bill automatically becomes law.
