Nevada children under the age of 12 need to be properly restrained in the back seat
It doesn't tend to be illegal (of course that varies by state/country) but in the event of a collision, the child would be much safer in the back seat than in the front. Under no circumstances should a child in a rear facing booster seat be placed in the front seat as if the airbags deploy, the child will probably be killed.

no Only if the front airbag can be deactivated - this does not mean it is allowed in every state - some states have laws that mandate the child should be in the back seat until they weigh 85 lbs or are 14 years old -
There is not an age to sit in the front seat the child just has to be 4 feet and 8 inches tall and weigh at least 85 pounds. At least in MA!
In the state of Illinois, a child must remain in the back seat until age 12. Even then it is not recommended that they ride in the front seat because they could be seriously injured or killed if the air bag opened.
In Washington state, a child can sit in the front seat of a pickup truck when they are at least 13 years old. However, it's important to note that all children under the age of 8 must be secured in an appropriate child safety seat in the back seat, if available. The state's laws emphasize child safety, so it's advisable to follow best practices for car seat usage and vehicle safety regardless of age.
An air bag can severely injure of kill a young child if they are not old or big enough to be sitting in the front seat. Car seat safety varies by state, but once the child outgrows a booster seat, he or she is permitted to ride in the front seat with a seat belt around the age of 13.
