All the animals listed at this site are either native to Egypt or found in Egypt now. The description of each animal will tell you if it is native, or if it has simply migrated to Egypt. Most of these animals were native to Egypt, which means they'll be native to Cairo as well. However, most animals (unless tamed or domesticated) have a general aversion towards humans and likely wouldn't be found in the city.

In 2002, there were about 98 species of mammals, 123 species of birds, and over 2000 species of higher plants.
