Due to globalization, Ireland is quite similar to the US in many aspects, particularly in that it has a consumer-based society.

Ireland has fast food drive-throughs, cinemas, wifi at coffee houses, etc.


Ireland and the UK are are also the only two countries left in the world besides the US that use (at least some) Imperial measurements. Officially, Ireland is on the metric system, but you still hear people refer to distances in miles and people's heights in feet and inches. However, this will be gone in a few years.
