Highway 26 runs east from San Juan and becomes Highway 3, which the runs south along the east coast and becomes Highway 53 and then runs west along the southern coast until it merges with 52. 52 heading west to Ponce becomes Highway 2 which continues to the west coast of the island territory, turning east along the north coast until it becomes Highway 22 which circles back to San Juan. Highway 52 begins on the north coast at San Juan and runs due south through the mountains to the southern coast where it meets afore-mentioned Highway 53. Highway 20 connects interior Highway 52 and east coast Highway 53. Connecting Ponce on the mid-south coast to the north coast is Highway 10.
