Right now (2012) Egypt is facing much political turmoil. A dictator has just been overthrown, and its people are figuring out their new government. There is no popular elected Prime Minister or President yet, but Egypt is working on it. Egypt's antiquity is another major issue. Many tourists take pieces from the Pyramids which because of this are slowly disappearing. Egyptian artifacts are also sold on the black market. There is much debate about Egyptian artifacts in foreign museums and whether they should be returned to Egypt. Women's rights, religion, and cultural identities are all big issues.
