It appears through history that Jamaicans were very musically inclined and they started out by making their own instruments from anything they could get their hands on. Here are a list of instruments: * Merimbula * Drums * Maracas * Triangles * Tambourines * Guitar (later in history) * Banjo (later in history) Jamaicans used anything that would make a sound including their own voices (not just singing, but making different sounds.)
