I don't know the answer but with everyone talking about all the moths I'm surprised I can't find any news stories on it. But my basic ecological common sense tells me that the population of whatever is the predator of the moth - bats, birds, etc. - has shrunk and that's usually due to loss of habitat. Of course, global warming is the obvious answer but I can't provide any details. This is a big story no is bothering to research.
