We went to the Melbourne show yesterday and the cost for rides were ridiculous. Some were up to seven dollars, so if you have a big family the costs soon add up. There were cheaper rides in the small kids section but they soon add up as well. What really peeved me was the long euro slide, which was three dollars per child per ride, which was over in ten seconds. Ten dollars each to put the kids on the bungie jumpers. Over near the dog sheds there were signs up for 10 rides for $20. Some lady had tickects because she said her kids didn't like the rides, so we bought the rest off her, to find (ALSO) that the tickects were not for all the rides in that area (and they were the least interesting rides out of the lot.) We were lucky to get out of there for around $350. $75 to get in. That's an extremely expensive day out and we said no to the kids all day because we could have been stung for a lot more.
Some rides are up to $7 each and the long euro slide $3 per child. The average child ride cost $4.
Royal Melbourne Show was created in 1848.
This is no longer the case. Melbourne used to have a Show Day public holiday every year from 1885 until it was revoked in 1994, during the time Jeff Kennett was Premier. So, in fact, there is no single "Royal Melbourne Show Day" any longer.
last year it was about $9

No, not everything is half price on the last day of the Royal Melbourne Show. While some vendors may offer discounts to clear out inventory, pricing can vary widely depending on the seller and the item. It's best to check with individual stalls for specific deals as the event concludes.
