Well, like most rabbits Netherland dwarfs can be scared into a heart attack. that is why they should be kept inside. many rabbits get heart attacks because of aggressive barking of dogs, aggressive cats, or sudden very loud noises like fireworks.
any dwarf rabbits such as norwegian dwarf, netherland dwarf, dwarf lop, dutch are slightly larger but smaller than medium sized rabbits, polish rabbits. dont think about... flemish giants, giant rexes. remember there are always exceptions to the rule (meaning that my friends dwarf rabbit is HUGE) and all rabbits are small and cute as babies so think about an adult rabbit (a shelter is a great place to find a loveable bunny in need)
I've learned that pine shavings are not the best litter for any pet rabbit. The strong odor is hard on them and can cause them breathing problems. I switched all my bunnies to care fresh litter, and this has worked well for whatever breed of bunny I've had, including my netherland dwarf rabbit. Hope this has been helpful. Pat
