The geographical region known as Central America connects the continent of North America to the continent of South America. Central America is comprised of seven countries: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama.
It depends where you are starting from. If you are anywhere in North America or Central America (and South America if you don't count the Panama Canal) then you can get to Alaska by land.
Pan American highway
The highway that connects countries of South America is called the Pan-American Highway. It runs from Mexico to Valparaiso and then runs east to Buenos Aires. It is on the west coast of South America.

You will be leaving the US and entering Mexico entering the Pan-American Highway in order to drive from North America to South America. The South America part of the highway begins in northwestern Colombia.

Can't be done. The Pan American Highway has a terminal point at Yaziva, Panama, and the South American portion of the route does not connect to the Central American portion.
The Pan-American Highway runs through Central America and much of South America, but it is not always the best or fastest route, and has a 60-mile gap at Darien, Panama that cannot be crossed by road.
