she was captive in loch levan and forced to
Mary, Queen of Scots, was imprisoned in a series of castles and dungeons after her forced abdication in 1567. She was first held at Loch Leven Castle, where she was effectively a prisoner from June 1567 until May 1568. After her escape, she sought refuge in England, where she was captured and subsequently imprisoned by Queen Elizabeth I, spending 19 years in different locations, including Fotheringhay Castle, until her execution in 1587.
Her cousin, Queen Elizabeth, saw her as a threat. When Mary fled to her cousin for protection, her cousin was not sure what to do. If she sent Mary back, her people might get angry and revolt. If she kept Mary in England, her [people might decide they wanted a Catholic priest and try to crown Mary and dethrone her. So Elizabeth locked her up. After 19 years in prison, Mary was found guilty of treason, and was executed.
Loch Leven Castle was possibly build around c. 1300 - hence about 700 years old as of 2011.
Mary fled Scotland because her husband was murdered and people started thinking that she gave the order for his death because he was violent. she left the country with the earl of Bothwell , who was also a main suspect, and went to England only to be executed.

In Scotland it is the same as the Scottish-English and Scots word - "Loch" as in "Loch Dubh" Dark Lake. In Irish it is spelled "Lough" but has a similar pronunciation to Loch
The proper pronunciation for Loch Lomond is near impossible for non Scots but let's try. Loch is law-then clear your throat as if you are about to spit but don't. Lomond is as it reads.
Meikle is the name of a loch in Aberdeenshire in northeastern Scotland. It is named for the Scots word for "big".
She was born in Scotland, but sent to France at the age of 5 years old for her safety. She married the dauphin in 1558(heir to the French throne) when she was 15 or 16 and became the Queen of France a year later. But her husband died in 1560. She came back to Scotland in 1561 to start her rule poper (she had been Queen since just a baby and the country had been ruled by regents until she was old enough.) She married again in 1565 - her cousin Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley, he was the father of her son James - the future James VI and I. Lord Darnley was killed in 1567, Mary married the earl of Bothwell soon after. This was controversial as Bothwell was suspected of murdering Darnley. There was an uprising against this and Mary was imprisoned in Loch Leven Castle and forced to abdicate in favour of her baby son. She escaped to England hoping her second-cousin Queen Elizabeth would help restore her to her throne. Instead she ended up in English custody and began a period of almost twenty years of behind held in various manors/castles - among them was Carslise Castle, Sheffield Castle and Fotheringhay - where she was tried and executed.
