Dairy is very big, an infinite variety of cheeses can be found. Apples are the main fruit tree crop and are abundant. There is a large variety of ciders with alcohol content ranging from low to nearly that of wine, sometimes more, -ice cider and fortified ones. Corn is abundant in the St. Lawrence river valley. There is a lot of truck farming around Montreal and local very high quality produce is readily available. Some give their crops some protection, so local lettuce, etc. are available even after the first frosts. Strawberries are very abundant in early summer, both cultivated and wild blueberries are harvested. Quebec probably produces more maple products than the other US. and Canadian growing areas combined.
