After World War 2 Brazil was left with many economic problems. Even when some of Brazil's problems were being solved, not everybody received the benefits, so the government tried to distribute the country's wealth equally, but failed.
After the failure, the military took control of the country and began fixing the state's economic problems, but at a great cost of high inflation and debt, both at an increased 800% in 1987. When some stability returned to the distraught country, the gap between the rich and poor of the population was just as big as before.
It was in the years 1985 (Uruguay and Bolivia), in 1989 (Brazil and Panama), and in 1990 (Nicaragua and Chile) when more than one country formed a democracy.
Brazil's transition from a colony to a democratic country involved several key steps. Initially, it gained independence from Portugal in 1822, leading to the establishment of the Empire of Brazil under Dom Pedro I. After a period of political turmoil and the abolition of the monarchy in 1889, Brazil became a republic. The 20th century saw various political movements, culminating in the establishment of a military dictatorship from 1964 to 1985, followed by a return to democracy with the 1988 Constitution, which solidified civil rights and democratic governance.
Brazil began to establish a democracy in the late 19th century, following the abolition of the monarchy in 1889. The country transitioned to a republic, and a parliamentary system was introduced. However, it wasn't until the 1930s with the rise of Getúlio Vargas that more democratic practices were solidified, culminating in the establishment of a new constitution in 1946 after World War II. Brazil's democracy faced various challenges, including military coups, but has evolved since then, particularly after the end of military rule in 1985.
