They were both advanced civilizations in ancient Latin America.
These civilizations were the Aztecs, the Mayans and the Inca. The Aztecs were native of central Mexico, while Mayans expanded over southern Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. Finally, the Inca established themselves in western South America, on parts of present-day Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Peru and Colombia. All these civilizations had in common traits such as a monolithic architecture, complex hieroglyphics, astronomic studies and sophisticate agriculture and irrigation systems. Also, all of them were utterly destroyed by Spanish conquistadors during the 16th and 17th centuries.
They both lived in Middle America

Yes. Aztecs had regular contact with other civilizations, such as Texcocan, Tlacopan and Maya. Aztecs were also bitter enemies of the Tlaxcaltec civilization, who ultimately allied with Cortes and his Spanish conquistadores to destroy the Aztecs. These civilizations had common traits, such as weapons and tools made from obsidian stone, the year calendar, the ball game or the need to sacrifice the captured warriors for their gods. That is why the area of central and south Mexico is known as Mesoamerica.
Mesoamerica has a tropical climate with distinct wet and dry seasons. The region experiences high temperatures and humidity year-round, with the wet season typically occurring from May to October. Hurricanes are also a common occurrence in Mesoamerica during the wet season.
In Mesoamerica, some common landforms include mountains, valleys, plateaus, and coastal plains. Volcanoes are also prevalent in the region, with some still active today. Additionally, there are rivers and lakes that contribute to the diverse geography of Mesoamerica.
