Tel el-Amarna, the ancient Egyptian city established by Pharaoh Akhenaten, was largely abandoned shortly after his death around 1336 BCE. The city's residents likely faced social and political upheaval as the religious reforms of Akhenaten, which promoted the worship of the sun disk Aten, were reversed by subsequent rulers, notably Tutankhamun. Many inhabitants may have relocated to return to traditional worship and societal structures in the more established cities of Egypt. Eventually, the site declined into ruins, with its significance fading over time.
Battle of Tel el-Kebir happened on 1882-09-13.
