My friend recently got a MIC while camping in Indiana. She was the only underage person there and while I don't know if she was actually drinking or not, the officers issued a ticket and she now has to go to court. She's worried she will have to go to jail or have her license suspended for an extraordinary amount of time. No site that I have been to has been helpful in addressing this question. I don't want my friend to end up in the slammer!

If a spouse dies but leaves the property in a will to someone else what happens?

"Someone else" gets the property. The surviving spouse can certainly contest the will. And there may be specifics in the state that entitle the surviving spouse to a portion of the real property, or a life estate in real property. Consult an attorney licensed in the state in question.

What happens if you die but don't have a will?

The state will decide who gets what. Usually it will go to a spouse if there is one, then children if any. Brother or sister and then grandparents and it keeps branching until there is someone. Absolutely no relation of any kind, it would probably stay in limbo with the state on the chance someone shows up to claim it.
