The national holidays celebrated in the US are all celebrated in Ohio. There are, however, holiday-specific and special events celebrated across the state throughout the year. These include:

  • In December, guided tours of a restored house and museum in Cleveland, where visitors enjoy "A Christmas Story."
  • The Christmas Ranch, a light display on more than 5 scenic acres of over 350,000 beautiful lights synchronized to music, with a town and barn where a Jingle Bell Show takes place. Donations from the proceeds of The Christmas Ranch goes to the Ronald McDonald House of Cincinnati.
  • A tour at Hisoric Lyme Village: The Christmas of YesterYear and Christmas Lantern Tour, held in December, features 19th century log houses, a log church, a one-room school, 1936 Seymour House and the 1882 Victorian Wright Mansion. There's also a gift shop and Christmas Eve service at the log church.
  • Also, Four Santa Trains at Christmas: Cincinnati Railway's Santa North Pole Express, Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad's Santa Claus Express, Dennison Railroad Museum's Polar Express, and Hocking Valley Scenic Railway's Santa Trains.
  • Also annually; Winter Hike at Hocking Hills State Park in Logan, Ohio, with a scenic 6-mile hike featuring frozen waterfalls and cave walls cover in "ice beards," from Old Man's Cave to Ash Cave.
  • Annual Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus featuring 45 sports events including 12 Olympic sports are held in April. On-site exhibitors offer lots of street shops with fitness apparel, equipment, training tools and more.
  • In April, the annual Tulip Mania is held at the Cincinnatti Zoo. Visitors view a rainbow of thousands of tulips, a millions daffodils, hyacinth, flowering trees and shrubs in bloom.
  • The Geauga County Maple Festival, also in April is held annually in Chardon, Ohio. The festival features maple-syrup contests, lots of games, entertainment, and carnival rides.
  • Another event held in April each year is the Tri-C JazzFest in Cleveland. The event is the largest educational Jazz fest in the US and features the region's best jazz musicians.
  • Each year in May, Utica, Ohio has their Olde Fasioned Ice Cream Festival. The event features an ice-cream eating contest, balloon toss, kiddie tractor pulls, lots of exhibitions and the festival queen is crowned.
  • The Columbus Asian Festival is also held in May, which features Asian culture, representing fifteen different Asian ethnic groups. There are dance performances, ethic music, Tai Chi and Martial Arts workshops.
  • The Columbus Arts Festival is held annually in June, where hundreds of artists come together, showcasing and selling their work.
  • The Cincinnati Juneteenth Festival is held each on June 19th each year, celebrating the Emancipation Proclamation, featuring a parade, live music, educational programs and historical exhibits.
  • Also in June, is the Vectron Air Show held in Dayton, Ohio. Visitors see amazing aerobatic performances and military jet demonstrations.
  • Cleveland has a Tall Ships Festival in July each year, which showcases Great Lakes maritime history and spotlights environmental themes with a fleet of magnificent tall ships. The event features sail training, as well.
  • Jamboree in the Hills, one of the most known country-music events in the US, is celebrated in July in Belmont, with four days of live music, dancing and camping.
