Depends on where you are at. It is much greener the farther east you go. Fairly populated around Kansas City and Topeka. Heading west after Topeka, it is pretty desolate. Lots of fields and farms and scarcely populated. Put it this way, it's one of the only states to still offer federal land grants, so the scenery is not that great.
Kansas is mostly farming and livestock land. Mostly flat plains, but lots of tree's. The landscape of Kansas: Rolling hills and small valleys. Right now Western Kansas has a few more trees than when I lived there over fifty years ago. At that time because of the lack of trees, shrubbery and things of that nature, dust storms were prevalent and caused a lot of soil erosion. There are many smaller towns in Western Kansas and a lot of wheat farms and cattle ranches. There are also large cities like Wichita and Kansas City. The further East you go the more high the hills are. There are no mountainous areas like there are when you get into Colorado and on West.
