The Canol pipeline never existed in Alberta, It was constructed between Norman Wells, NWT to The Canol refinery which was located in Whitehorse, YK. It was constructed in the winter of 1943-44 and stretched approximately 750km through some of the worst terrain imaginable Throughout the life of the project it employed near 30,000 people and cost an estimated 200 million. It was constructed by the U.S army in order to receive a safe supply of oil for their fleet. The pipeline consisted of 2650 km of 4"and 6" pipe, pump stations and 1600 km of telephone lines. In 1944 the first oil reached Whitehorse and less than year later the entire project was abandoned.

Yes, several universities in Canada offer master's programs related to pipeline engineering, often within broader disciplines such as civil, mechanical, or petroleum engineering. Notable institutions include the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary, both of which have strong programs in energy and resource engineering. Students can expect to cover topics such as pipeline design, fluid mechanics, and safety management in these programs.
The Keystone XL Pipeline is designed to transport up to 830,000 barrels of crude oil per day. It primarily carries crude oil from Alberta, Canada, to various destinations in the United States. The pipeline's capacity is significant for facilitating the movement of oil from Canadian oil sands to U.S. refineries. However, the project has faced considerable regulatory and environmental challenges over the years.
