Tiwi is the original language. The Tiwi people by and large do not speak the complex language that they possessed before European settlement but speak a mixture of English and 'modern Tiwi' which is a grammatically simplified form of the language considerably influenced by English 'load words' and sentence structure.
There are estimated to still be over 200 Tiwi who speak a form similar to the old language, but these are generally older folk. There are about 2000 who speak a modern form of the language.

The Tiwi tribe, located on the Tiwi Islands in Australia, are known for their intricate wood carvings and vibrant paintings, often depicting traditional stories and ancestral connections. They create these artworks for cultural expression, to preserve their heritage, and to share their identity with others. Additionally, the Tiwi people craft ceremonial items and tools that play significant roles in their cultural practices and rituals. Their art is not only a means of livelihood but also serves to strengthen community bonds and maintain traditions.

No we don't have a segregated system in Australia. While we don't have a segregrated system, there are some regions that offer Aboriginal schooling, but they are staffed by Europeans. For example, in Alice Springs is Yirara College, a Lutheran-run aborginal boarding school which is government-funded. The students bring some of their cultural traditions with them, often going "walkabout" whenever they feel like it. Similarly, there are all-Aboriginal schools on the Tiwi islands (once Bathurst and Melville Islands). Within other cities, though, there are not separate schools for Aborigines. This seems to be restricted to the Northern Territory.
Melville Island (which is no longer referred to by this name) lies off the northern coast of Australia, not far from Darwin. It is now referred to collectively, with nearby islands, as part of the Tiwi Islands.
